I Thought things only happen in 3's......

What a week...you might need to get a snack and drink for this one!

#1...On Wednesday 9/24/08 Dave went to Orem to take a test for work. He ended up in the ER hospital there, because he was having severe stomach pains. Come to find out he has Gall Stones, which means he needs his Gall Bladder out. I thought I was going to have to drive up to Orem at 12:30am! Well they gave him Morphine when he got there and a prescription of Lortab when he left. He wasn't feeling any pain by that time. He got back to his hotel room around 2am and had to be up and ready to go take his test at 7am. Not much sleep for him and Art (he stayed with Dave the entire time at the ER, what a nice guy!)

#2...Trevor and I left at 11:30am on Thursday 9/25/08 to go to Vegas and pick up my Mom so we could head to Oceanside, CA. We rented a very nice Dodge Grand Caravan that only had 8000 miles on it. So we are all packed and on the road. We decided to stop in Barstow to get something to eat. Well when I went to push the brake, this horrendous noise came out of them. It startled us. Well then it just kept happening each time I put pressure on the brakes. So we pull over in the parking lot of Carl's Jr. Just as I get ready to park... #3...my phone rings and my mom's phone rings. I am thinking that is weird. It was Dave calling to say I just found Sandy unconscious. My brother Troy called my mom to tell her. The paramedics were already there when he called. OK so now I'm kinda stressed because the brakes aren't working and my aunt is unconscious. So I tell Dave to call me back when he knows something more, because I gotta call the rental car company and have them bring a replacement vehicle. Well I call and they send a Tow truck out, but can't get us another vehicle till morning because the rental car place in Barstow closed at 6pm and at that time is was 6:20pm. I am like are you kidding me??!! The lady on the phone tells me to go to the nearest airport and I can get a car there. OH OK that is like 2 hours away in Ontario. So am I suppose to drive thru the Cajon Pass with broken brakes! NOT! The very nice tow truck driver stayed while we tried to figure this out. He had a friend who has a rental car company that would get a vehicle, but our company said no way would they pay for it. We decide to just take the driver up on his offer and just pay for it our selves. So we follow him to the place and you will not believe what the name of it was "PICK-A-WRECK". My mom and I looked at each other and said...uhmm that is scary and no way. We didn't want to be stranded again. So we told the very nice driver No Thank You and went on our way in this noisy van. We got a hotel room for the night then finally went to eat at 8:30pm at IHOP. We had the nicest waitress who wanted to go kick the car company's butt. We get back to our room pooped as all getup. I am on the phone with Mesa View to find out about Sandy and they tell me she has been flown to Vegas. Nobody bothered to call Dave or I and let us know. They sent Dave home earlier. So I call Valley Hospital and they tell me that she hasn't arrived, but that the helicopter just landed and they don't know who is on it. By this time it is 10:30pm. So I was on the phone about every hour trying to find out what is going on. SLEEP...who needs it! I finally find out she is conscious and breathe a sigh of relief at 2:30am. She was hooked up to the ventilator. I tried to get some sleep, but woke up about 6am and called to check again, no change. I get dressed and take the STUPID van to the RC (rental company) and go in and tell them what happened. WELL GUESS WHAT???? The have no vehicles to give us! They tell me to take the van to a tire place and have them try and fix it, but it will be about 2 hours before it's done. So I ask can someone please follow me there and drive me back to the hotel. They look at each other like I don't know. I am thinking CRAP! I told them I have a 2 1/2 year old and a mother who has a hard time walking locked up in a hotel room and can't leave them for that length of time. So they finally say yes. I guess I was suppose to kiss the ground they walked on for doing it. Well check out time is 11am and the van was suppose to be done by around 10am, so I call at 11:30am to find out what the heck is going on. The man at the tire place says they didn't call you? I'm like NO (and thinking this isn't gonna be good) Because the van is so new they don't have the part to fix it so it has to go to the dealership and that will take a few days. So I MARCHED my little fingers on the phone to the RC and ask them why they haven't called me to tell me this and that check out time was half hour ago. She says we are trying to find you a vehicle. I asked are you paying for this room, because we are being charged 2 days for it. She said yes. So finally 2pm rolls around and they have another van for us. We decided to go ahead and go to Oceanside since there isn't anything we can do at the hospital. OH I FORGOT TO TELL YOU WHY WE WERE GOING TO CA, my brother in law Keith was receiving the Melchizedek Priesthood on Sunday and my mom's birthday was on Thursday as well. Happy Birthday to you Mom! It's one you will never forget. NOR I! Trevor was so good about everything. When he would not get in his car seat, I asked him if he wanted to go back to the room and he said "No Mommy, No Room" and jumped in his car seat like a good boy. I used that line whenever he wouldn't listen. We arrived at Ashlee's around 8pm. The next day Saturday we went to Cole's Soccer Game, he scored the only point. It was awesome! Then later in the afternoon, Trevor and I drove back up to Fontana to stay overnight at Aunt Beckie's and Gramma's house. We had fun. Then Sunday morning we drove back down to Camp Pendleton to go to church with Ashlee and her family. Afterwards we drove back to Vegas and dropped Granny off and then headed home to Mesquite. We made it safe and sound at 12:30am.

#4...The next morning Monday 9/29/08 Dave, Trev and I drove back to Vegas to take the rental van back and see Sandy. As we were driving I get a phone call from the GYN nurse and she explains to me that I have Pre-cancer (Stage 3 VIN), I don't have cancer, but basically on the verge. But I need to go back and have them remove the other centimeter and search for more. If any more are found then she told me I will have to have surgery. I told her, well my husband is going in to have his Gall Bladder removed, can we just share a room? We laughed. What else can I do?

#5...I am going to count this next one as JUST 1. I was called to be Compassionate Service person 2 weeks ago. Over that 2 weeks I have had to arrange meals for 5 families, we had a new baby born, house flooded, little girl in the hospital, funeral, & foot surgery.

So I really don't know why I haven't had a nervous breakdown yet. I do know that I say my prayers everyday plus some (Trev makes sure of that), try to do the best I can, know my Heavenly Father loves me and doesn't give me more than I can handle. I am really hoping he sees fit that I will be good for awhile after these trials and worries. I am really grateful to My Heavenly Father for giving me patience and love.

Quick update on Sandy...she is still in the hospital in Vegas, she should be home either Saturday/Sunday. We are going down tomorrow to see if we can catch the doctor. Well thanks for reading my blog. If you haven't fallen asleep yet then you might need a nap after reading how boring our life is. HAHA! Told you would need a snack and drink!!

That is all so crazy! My favorite part is " pick-a-wreck". I can't belive they actually named a rental place that.
I want you to know that I think you are awesome. With 100 kids, we have had our share of compassionate service. However we have been overwhelmed by the care we have gotten under your leadership. We haven't just gotten meals, we have gotten several course meals with desert each day! You are insanely thoughtful. Thank you.
